Elizabeth Carlock Phillips is a social entrepreneur and millennial philanthropist at the helm of Phillips Philanthropies, which includes the Phillips Foundation. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with degrees in corporate communications and public affairs and french. Elizabeth started a jewelry business in high school that became her career for seven years and led her to Uganda, where she was founding designer of Akola. In 2017, she co-founded Gems by the Foot, an e-commerce jewelry brand that is “Made to Order, Beyond Borders,” benefiting refugee women and their families resettling in North Texas through the IRC.

Since 2013, Elizabeth has led the Phillips Foundation’s implementation of generational grants that “move the dial” in Guilford County, NC; developed the foundation’s total portfolio activation strategy; and launched its Impact Investing Think Tank and PRI programs as well as, more recently, the Healthy Relationships Initiative (HRI) and Give As We Grow platform, an online destination for philanthropic education and tracking.

Elizabeth serves as a Governor-appointed trustee of UNC Greensboro and is on the boards of Women Moving Millions, Texas Women’s Foundation, The Dallas Foundation and Say Yes to Education, along with other affiliations. She has appeared in featured stories on broadcast news and in a variety of publications, including The Financial Times, Barron’s, Bloomberg, Dallas Morning News, Forbes, and as a recipient of Triad Business Journal’s “Women in Business” award in 2015. Elizabeth and her husband Kevin are cofounders of The ImPact and principals of Phillips Enterprises. They enjoy life with their young family in Dallas, TX, and Greensboro, NC.
