Desiree began her career in education as a Teach for America corps member and has served in a variety of educational roles including teacher, social worker, and principal. As a leader at Achievement First she was a dean of students and instructional coach. As the principal of Bronx Charter School for Excellence, a national Blue Ribbon School, Desiree cemented her commitment to ensuring that all students receive high quality personalized instruction through high-quality school leadership and teacher development. As the managing director at FLI, Desiree is the main driver of ensuring that we are working towards our vision of ensuring that all schools will increase equity for students and educators and support teams that are as diverse and talented as the communities they serve. Desiree spends her free time volunteering at community-based organizations focused on equity and the arts. Desiree received her BA in psychology from the University of Michigan, her MA of social work from Columbia University, and her MSEd in educational administration and leadership from the College of St. Rose.
