John leads the business of THE CITY, overseeing all non-editorial activities including revenue, technology, finance, and operations.

John brings decades of experience in investment banking, venture capital, and nonprofit governance including senior executive management roles at Morgan Stanley (managing director, member – European investment banking operating committee) and at Dimensional Fund Advisors (vice president, member – management committee).

John was an active board member (2012–2018) and vice chair of NPR, Inc, the operating company of National Public Radio. John was also a founding board member of the Texas Tribune and actively participated in the development of the Tribune’s business model. John is currently a board member and treasurer of the New Museum of Contemporary Art and a past board member (2003–2008) of the Judd Foundation.

John is a graduate of Duke University (AB) and Columbia University School of Law (JD), is an instrument-rated private pilot, and has produced numerous London West End theatrical productions.
