R.A. Farrokhnia inhabits the intersection of academia and practice, with a multidisciplinary research and academic focus as well as professional experience in finance, startups, and venture investing. He is a recipient of the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence, teaching at both Columbia Business and Engineering Schools, and a board member of the Knight-Bagehot Program at Columbia School of Journalism. He is the founding executive director of “Advanced Projects and Applied Research in Fintech” at Columbia Business School (fintech.gsb.columbia.edu), with a growing number of activities under its umbrella. He also leads a research, development, and deployment lab focused on fintech, data / AI, and enterprise software. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Columbia University.
