Teens Take Charge

Nelson is a first generation Puerto Rican and Dominican Columbia student from the Bronx. Through his use of art as a medium for activism in high school with spoken word, he was able to develop the tools to eventually co-found Teens Take Charge his sophomore year in high school. Teens Take Charge is a student-led organization that is working to build educational equity through art and civic engagement. He is currently a writer for the Columbia Spectator and hopes to earn a major in race and ethnic studies and Columbia’s special business concentration.
