Matthew is the sole owner of this startup venture, overseeing all aspects of the technology and business development. While Marko Motors was officially incorporated in 2018 as an LLC, his interest in thermodynamics existed as far back as 2003 when he was an undergraduate student. He was born in NYC at Columbia Presbyterian, making Columbia University the first place he ever saw, and grew up in Monmouth County, NJ. He graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) with a master’s of philosophy (2012) and a PhD (2015) in mechanical engineering, with a thesis in tribology (friction and lubrication). Prior to Columbia, he got his bachelor’s in engineering in mechanical engineering and bachelor’s of science in physics from Stevens Institute (2006); his master’s in engineering in mechanical engineering with a concentration in thermal engineering, and a graduate certificate in power plant design (2006); and his master’s of science in physics from Johns Hopkins University (2009). After Columbia, he enrolled at Rutgers University in the cohort-based professional MBA program, graduating in May 2019. He currently lives in Seaside Heights, NJ with his wife and daughter.
